Welcome to the website of Louth MG Owners Club
History of the club
In 1991 Alan Low bought his MGB roadster and then looked around the Skegness Area to find the nearest MG Owners Club. At this time the closest club to Alan was based in Grimsby some 40 miles away, so undeterred Alan contacted the Grimsby area secretary (Colin Fleming) and they met up for a chat in Louth. Colin suggested that a new branch should be set up in Skegness but after lengthy discussions and a few pints it was agreed that Louth would be a better catchment area. Alan could not remember whether any advertising was done but thinks that Colin just put the word about, and so the Louth MG Owners Club was born. At the first meeting four members turned up, with numbers slowly growing to 6 where it stayed for about 18 months. In 1993 the membership decided to form a committee and Alan was elected treasurer and remained in that position until he retired in 2010.
In the early days of the club the aim was just to help and assist members with any problems that they encountered and road runs or club outings were not really on the agenda. Our aims have not changed much over the years but now include that well deserved pastime of enjoying your MG.
Over the last few months there have been changes at the club and it has been decided by the members that the club should be available to anyone in the area who has any make of classic car not just an MG. The club has now decided to relocate to "The Brackenborough Hotel" Cordeaux Corner, Louth LN11 0SZ. It was also agreed that a Tuesday Evening was difficult for a lot of members so it was also decided to change the day to the 1st Thursday of the month at 7.30pm.
